If you've been licensed for less than two years when the first renewal date occurs, you must pay the renewal fee but aren't obligated to complete the accompanying CE until the second cycle. Nonresident adjusters must meet 12 hours of CE, 3 in ethics. Licensees who have had their license for 25 or more consecutive years or hold the designation of CPCU, CHFC, CFP, AAI, CLU, CEBS, FLMI, FSPA, CIC, RHU, have half of their CE requirements automatically credited (ex: a CFP adjuster must only get 6 of 12 CE credits, a producer with a CPCU must get 12 of 25). Limited lines producers who are only writing consumer credit, title, crop/hail, surety, and car rental insurance; resident adjusters who are solely licensed for surety and/or marine and transportation insurance; and limited lines producers who sell life insurance or annuity products that are used solely to fund arranged, pre-need funeral programs are exempt from these CE requirements.
License can be renewed within the year if you get current on your CE, submit a renewal application, and pay a late fee. After those 12 months, your license would be considered inactive requires a new application to reinstate.
