Preliminary Health Insurance Rates for 2026 Released The DOI has published proposed health insurance rates for 2026 individual and small group plans. The public is encouraged to review and comment before rates are finalized. View and comment on the proposed rates
Idaho State Fire Marshal Annual Report & Incident Updates The 2024 Annual Report has been submitted to Governor Little, with statewide fire service data. The newsletter also includes a "how to" on preparing one's home for a wildfire.

Posted August 01, 2025, Alaska updated its eligible surplus line insurers list. Alaska uses two statuses to identify eligible foreign surplus lines insurers: - White Listed: Foreign companies that meet the NRRA and domestic state requirements - Listing Approved: Alien companies not on the NAIC Quarterly Listing of Alien Insurers but approved by the division (carriers must apply for approval) You may use the Alaska Company Search tool to check an insurer’s status. Posted August 1, 2025, The Ohio Department of Insurance sent out a reminder that all Business Entities must review and update their affiliations in advance. Affiliations can be reviewed and updated via the Notification of Changes for Business Entity Form link. The reviewing/changes will need to be completed by an individual affiliated with the business under one of the following designation types: - Director - Licensing Coordinator - Manager - Member - Officer - Owner - Partner - President - RDA - Secretary - Treasurer - Vice President For more information, please use the following link.
Effective September 30, 2025, Ohio has clarified the timing requirements for continuing education (CE) for resident and nonresident license holders. An agent who transacts long-term care insurance must complete **Previous language:** 4 hours of continuing education credit every 24 months beginning on January 1 of the year immediately following the year of issuance of the agent's license. **Updated language: ** 4 CE hours every license renewal period beginning with the first license renewal period following the agent's completion of the partnership training course. **Additionally, a new rule has been added**: An agent who fails to complete the CE requirements before the end of a license renewal period may not sell, solicit, or negotiate long-term care insurance until the CE requirements have been met.

Effective May 27, 2026, Utah has revised the language regarding license fee exemptions for resident and nonresident individuals.
Previous language: The spouse of an individual serving in the U.S. Armed Forces while the individual is stationed within Utah.
Updated language: The spouse of an individual serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or the spouse of a DOD civilian, while the individual or DOD civilian is stationed within Utah.

Update August 14, 2025, Markel International Insurance Company Limited (NAIC # AA1121425) is now in compliance and will remain active in SLIP+. Update August 13, 2025, Markel Insurance S.E. (NAIC # AA1340044) is now in compliance and will remain active in SLIP+.
August 1, 2025, Florida’s Surplus Lines Service Office (FSLSO) issued a notice regarding the following surplus lines insurers being out of compliance. - Markel Insurance S.E. (NAIC # AA1340044) - Markel International Insurance Company Limited (NAIC # AA1121425) FSLSO will be removing these carriers from its filing platform on August 15, 2025, if the filing requirement is not met. Effective August 1, 2025, Nevada requires all applicants who require fingerprinting to use the new “Fingerprint Authorization Form”.
This change is to better comply with requirements set by the Nevada Department of Public Safety and the FBI. These changes are also being made to reduce waiting time for application approval. Please see the attachment for more information.
Effective February 1, 2026, Virginia established new limitations on Non-Certification self-study continuing education (CE) hours. No more than twelve CE hours of content may be completed within any consecutive twenty-four-hour period. This limitation applies uniformly across all CE course categories filled under the method of “Self-Study”. Please see the attachment for more information.
Effective July 1, 2025, North Carolina passed a house bill that eliminates training course requirements for an insurance producer license. This bill also clarified wording around the following topics: - Calculation and liquidity stress test requirements - The North Carolina Professional Employer Organization Act - The Insurance Guaranty Association Act, - Insurance rebate permitted trade practices - Laws relating to the exchange of business between insurance producers Please see the attachment for more information.
