Effective July 1, 2025, Idaho residents and nonresidents for viatical settlements/life settlements have had the following requirements removed: - Providers must file an annual statement with the Director by March 1 - A life insurance producer license is required to act as a life settlement provider or broker. - Within 10 days of acting as a life settlement provider or broker, a person must: - Notify the Director that he or she is acting as a life settlement provider or broker, including an acknowledgement that the person will comply with the requirements set out for life settlement transactions; - Pay all applicable fees.
Effective July 7, 2025, Indiana residents and nonresidents added the following fees: - Temporary Emergency Adjuster License: $ 20.00 - Insurance Administrator - License application: $50.00 - Annual report fee: $50.00
Effective September 12, 2025, North Dakota will update its existing Lines of Authority to align more closely with national standards. From September 11, 2025, to September 12, 2025, electronic applications will be closed for North Dakota.
The state is also implementing additional validation rules for Designated Responsible Producers (DRPs) listed on electronically submitted applications.
Effective October 1, 2025, North Carolina residents and nonresidents will see changes to pre-licensing education requirements. Previous language: - Pre-licensing education is required for the following: - Accident and health or sickness - 20 hours; - Casualty - 20 hours; - Life - 20 hours; - Personal lines - 20 hours; - Property - 20 hours; and - Medicare supplement/long-term care - 10 hours. Updated language: - Each applicant must comply with all education, training requirements to be licensed as a producer, limited representative, adjuster, or motor vehicle damage appraiser. - The Commissioner will not require an individual producer license applicant to complete any specific amount or course of instruction.
Previous language: - They are currently licensed in their home state for the same lines of authority; or - The application is received within 90 days after cancellation of the applicant's previous license, and the applicant's home state certifies that: - At the time of cancellation, the applicant was in good standing in that state; or - The home state's producer database records (PDB) indicate that the producer is or was licensed in good standing for the lines of authority requested. Updated language: A nonresident applicant who fails the North Carolina licensing exam must comply with the pre-license education requirements as a resident of NC.

Posted August 01, 2025, Alaska updated its eligible surplus line insurers list. Alaska uses two statuses to identify eligible foreign surplus lines insurers: - White Listed: Foreign companies that meet the NRRA and domestic state requirements - Listing Approved: Alien companies not on the NAIC Quarterly Listing of Alien Insurers but approved by the division (carriers must apply for approval) You may use the Alaska Company Search tool to check an insurer’s status. Posted August 1, 2025, The Ohio Department of Insurance sent out a reminder that all Business Entities must review and update their affiliations in advance. Affiliations can be reviewed and updated via the Notification of Changes for Business Entity Form link. The reviewing/changes will need to be completed by an individual affiliated with the business under one of the following designation types: - Director - Licensing Coordinator - Manager - Member - Officer - Owner - Partner - President - RDA - Secretary - Treasurer - Vice President For more information, please use the following link.
Effective September 30, 2025, Ohio has clarified the timing requirements for continuing education (CE) for resident and nonresident license holders. An agent who transacts long-term care insurance must complete **Previous language:** 4 hours of continuing education credit every 24 months beginning on January 1 of the year immediately following the year of issuance of the agent's license. **Updated language: ** 4 CE hours every license renewal period beginning with the first license renewal period following the agent's completion of the partnership training course. **Additionally, a new rule has been added**: An agent who fails to complete the CE requirements before the end of a license renewal period may not sell, solicit, or negotiate long-term care insurance until the CE requirements have been met.

Effective May 27, 2026, Utah has revised the language regarding license fee exemptions for resident and nonresident individuals.
Previous language: The spouse of an individual serving in the U.S. Armed Forces while the individual is stationed within Utah.
Updated language: The spouse of an individual serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or the spouse of a DOD civilian, while the individual or DOD civilian is stationed within Utah.

August 1, 2025, Florida’s Surplus Lines Service Office (FSLSO) issued a notice regarding the following surplus lines insurers being out of compliance. - Markel Insurance S.E. (NAIC # AA1340044) - Markel International Insurance Company Limited (NAIC # AA1121425) FSLSO will be removing these carriers from its filing platform on August 15, 2025, if the filing requirement is not met.
