The Mississippi Department of Insurance Updates Producer Licensing Requirements for Residents and Non Residents
On December 18, 2023, The Mississippi Department of Insurance updated numerous licensing requirements for both Residents and Non Residents, please expand for more to view the updates.
**Individual Resident and Non Resident License Requirements** General Requirements Section (Residents and Non Residents): - All producers must be properly licensed in Mississippi and must comply with all licensing laws prior to receiving a license. - Added Industrial Fire, Title, Industrial Life, Accident & Health and Trip Accident and Baggage to the list of available LOAs for producer licenses. Application Section (Residents and Non Residents): - Resident Producers must submit applications through the Mississippi Insurance Department portal at the following website: https://bit.ly/48fAnll  Letter of Certification Section (Residents and Non Residents): - Added a link for the Letter of Certification request page on the Mississippi Insurance Department portal: https://bit.ly/3v38NcP  - Letter of Certification can also be requested by mail with a $20 fee per letter. - Added a link to the Letter of Certification Request form: https://bit.ly/3TqQcRS    Letter of Clearance Section (Residents and Non Residents): - Added a note and link for the Letter of Clearance which can be requested by mail with a $20 fee per letter. Required: Producer must submit a signed statement and an out of state address where the letter of clearance needs to be sent. https://bit.ly/3TqQcRS License Continuation Section (Residents and Non Residents): License Term and Continuation. - Added a section indicating a producer license expires on the renewal date unless it is revoked or suspended prior to renewal date. - After filing, license continues to be in force unless renewal is issued, refused and written notice of refusal has been given. - Regarding administrative action, a certificate of authority with reference to activity of a continuing nature does not expire when a renewal is submitted in a timely and sufficient manner and administrative action is complete. - The license or certificate of authority expires upon the Commissioner's issuance of an administrative order in the event that a renewal application is denied, an administrative hearing is scheduled to review the insurance producer's licensure status, or the terms of the certificate of authority are limited.
