Effective June 1, 2026, Alabama has updated: fees, registration, and qualifications for a resident and a nonresident preneed agent license.

**Registration and Qualification Changes**
To qualify as a preneed sales agent, an applicant must:
• Submit a completed registration application with the application fee;
• Be at least 18 years old;
• Be in good standing with the Alabama Board of Funeral Services (Board);
• Not have any felony or misdemeanor convictions relating to any activity regulated by Chapter 13 (Funeral Services) or a crime involving moral turpitude;
• Be of good moral character; and
• Submit the required information and two complete sets of fingerprints for a criminal history background check.
The preneed sales agent registration application must include:
• The applicant's name, address, Social Security number, date of birth, and other information the Board may reasonably require of the applicant;
• The sponsoring certificate holder's name, address, and license number;
• A representation, signed by the applicant, that the applicant meets the requirements in AL ST § 34-13-199(f);
• A representation, signed by the certificate holder, that:
• A statement indicating whether the applicant has any type of working or agency relationship with any other certificate holder or insurer.
