In the event of an emergency, VT can use adjuster or appraisers who are not licensed in Vermont to adjust claims arising out of the catastrophe. This individual must be licensed in their resident state and send an email to dfr.producerlicensing@vermont.gov to inform of VT of their intent. Their claim will be reviewed within 90 days for accuracy.

Vermont Bulletin Authorizing Catastrophe Adjusters and Appraisers Due To Recent Storms
On July 12, 2024, Vermont issued a bulletin authorizing insurers to use Catastrophe Adjusters and Appraisers due to recent storms. This authorization is effective July 12, 2024, for a period of ninety (90) days. Please see the attachment for more information.

Vermont Issues Alert Regarding Use of Catastrophe Adjusters / Appraisers
On July 10, 2023, Vermont issued an alert regarding the use of Catastrophe Adjusters and Appraisers In response to the State of Emergency declared July 9 by Governor Phil Scott following heavy rains and anticipated floodings. The Commissioner of the Department of Financial Regulation announced that the Department is preemptively allowing property and casualty insurance carriers to use individual adjusters not licensed in Vermont.
