Ohio Nonresident Contact Information / Surrender Deadline Timeframe and Resident Exam Updates
Effective March 27, 2025, Ohio has made updates to the language and rules for residents and nonresidents, with specific changes for each group.

Nonresidents
- A nonresident's license surrender will be effective immediately after the request is received, or at a later date specified by the agent. However, this must occur no more than 5 days after the request is received.
- Nonresidents must notify the department within 30 days of any changes in the following:
- Name
- Resident address
- Business address
- Mailing address
- Email address
- Phone number
Resident
The language around exam extensions for residents deployed on military service has been clarified to specify this extension. 
If a resident is deployed for active military service, they may receive an extension. The extension is 180 calendar days from the date of their return from deployment.
