Nebraska Company Appointment Renewal 2025

Effective May 1, 2025, Nebraska company appointment renewal invoices will be available for payment from May 1, 2025, through July 31, 2025. The termination deadline is April 25, 2025. The cost is $8 per appointment. Invoice fees are based on the residency of the appointee, see below.

Nebraska Rule Updates for Changing Residency

Effective March 14, 2025, Nebraska will be updating rules for applicants changing residency. - The applicant is exempt from the license exam if applying within 90 days of the cancellation of their former resident state's license - If the applicant holds an active nonresident NE license while applying for a resident NE license, the state will review

Effective January 9th, 2025, Nebraska will update the following license classes Lines of Authority (LOA) descriptions: Insurance Producer, Producer Temporary, and Apprentice Temporary Insurance Producer The new LOA descriptions will be available for display and offered for applications electronically.

Nebraska Department of Insurance will Add Funeral Insurance Director LOA for Life License / Resident Licensing

Effective January 12, 2024, Nebraska Department of Insurance will require Residents to pass an exam or hold a Life license in Nebraska if applying to a Funeral Insurance Director license.

Nebraska Department of Insurance to Add Surplus Lines Broker Mapping

Effective January 11, 2024, Nebraska will require nonresident Surplus Lines Broker applicants to hold Surplus lines in their resident state.

Nebraska to Add Temporary Apprentice Insurance Producer Licenses for Appointments, Terminations

Effective November 10, 2023, Nebraska will add a new Apprentice Temporary Insurance Producer license type which allows a licensee to apply for appointments

Nebraska Revised Business Entity License Expiration Dates

Effective June 6, 2023, Nebraska revised the business entity license expiration dates for residents and nonresidents. Agency licenses expire on April 30 each **even-numbered** year. The Department will mail renewal instructions to the agency 90 days before the expiration date.

Nebraska Creates a Pet Insurance License

On April 18th 2023, the Nebraska Unicameral passed LB296, which created a regulatory structure for the sale of pet insurance in the state. To help ease entry into selling pet insurance, the Nebraska Department of Insurance (NDOI) created a new pet insurance license. See attachment for full details.
