South Carolina Requires Documentation for Cancelled For Cause Terminations
Effective July 11, 2025, South Carolina will require appointment terminations with the termination reason "Cancelled For Cause" to send documentation to the South Carolina Department of Insurance. Supporting documentation must be sent by email to
agentmail@doi.sc.gov within 30 days of the appointment termination
South Carolina is also updating accepted termination reasons. South Carolina will accept the following reasons:
- Voluntary Termination
- Inadequate Production
- Death
- Company Defunct or Liquidation
- Company Indebtedness
- Poor Policyholder Service
- Agent Moved
- Appointed in Error
- Cancelled for Cause
South Carolina will no longer accept the following termination reasons:
- Request for Regulatory Review
