Exemptions to CE

Producers licensed only for credit, only surety, or who are licensed attorneys and up-to-date on their required legal CE, are exempt from Iowa's insurance CE. Producers licensed for crop only have reduced requirements.

What if a producer missed the renewal date?

Licensee has 12 months to reinstate their license by getting current on their CE, paying the renewal fee, and paying any associated late fees. After that, one will need to apply for a new license.

Effective October 14, 2022, resident Public Adjuster must have all Continuing Education requirements completed in order to submit resident renewal applications.

IA Adds Condition A Resident Insurance Producer License Can Be Issued Temporary License

Temporary License (not exceeding 180 days) can be issued by the Commissioner to a resident insurance producer license applicant who: 1) Meets the requirements of IA ST § 522B.5(1) AND 2) has not been issued the license within 10 business days from required identifying information, including fingerprints having been submitted to the Commissioner under IA ST § 522B.5A(3)

Iowa Issues Statements on Appointing, Renewals, and Limited Lines Car Rental Agents

Effective July 6, 2022, Iowa has deleted their monthly billing statement information. For Renewals, appointments that are terminated due to non payment are now able to get re-appointed via NIPR. For limited lines, rental car agent Iowa revised deadline for notifying the Division of terminated counter employee licensees and counter employee licensee name or address changes.

Iowa Adding Travel Agent Licensing Requirements

Effective July 1, 2022, Iowa is adding Travel Agent licensing requirements for both residents and nonresidents.

Iowa Adopts Legislation for Travel Insurance

Iowa is to adopt travel insurance and therefore is to add a new license class/line of authority in the near future. The date this becomes effective has not yet been announced.
