Exemptions to pre licensing requirements

Applicants holding certain designations are exempt from pre-licensing education requirements for specified lines of authority. a. To be exempt for the life line of authority, an applicant must have a designation of: I. Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); II. Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC); III. Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS); IV. Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC); V. Certified Financial Planner (CFP); VI. Fellow of Life Management Institute (FLMI); or VII. Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF). b. To be exempt for the property, personal lines, and casualty lines of authority, an applicant must have a designation of: I. Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); II. Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC); III. Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI); or IV. Associate in Risk Management (ARM). c. To be exempt for the health line of authority, an applicant must have a designation of: I. Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC); II. Registered Health Underwriter (RHU); III. Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS); IV. Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBC); or V. Health Insurance Advisor (HIA). Applicants holding an insurance degree from an accredited college or university are exempt from pre-licensing education requirements for all lines of authority.
